Celebrating Christmas...
We have had an eventful few days as we have celebrated Christmas with family and friends. On Sunday Grandma and Grandpa came over for dinner. Grandpa enjoyed reading "The 12 days of Christmas in Arizona" to the kids. Christmas eve was spent at Grandma and Grandpa's house with all of Grandma's side of the family. Finally it was time to make the 45 minute drive home so that Santa could visit our house for the first time. Although we were here for Christmas last year, we had only arrived 2 days earlier so Christmas was spent entirely at the grandparents house. Kaleb was the first one awake on Christmas morning at about 4:45am...and although he tried and tried to go back to sleep he just couldn't contain the excitement. Finally around 7:00am we finally woke Kate and Will to see what Santa had brought. They were all so excited and the house was a disaster within minutes. After opening gifts and relaxing it was off for more family events....this time brunch at Uncle Dave's with the Montgomery clan. After brunch we went to see Alvin and the Chipmunks which the kids loved. Then it was back over to Grandma and Grandpa's house for round 2 of opening presents and a wonderful Prime Rib dinner. The most wonderful part of this past few days though has been as we have spent time with the kids to emphasize the true meaning of Christmas. It has been amazing to see them as they begin to understand that Christmas is not all about Santa Clause. Kate even put on her own production of the nativity scene complete with parts for each member of the family and a script that she followed quite well. What a wonderful time of year!!
