The A's #1 Man

Kaleb is having a blast playing Little League for the first time. He plays either Right Center or Left Center field and has really improved his throwing. He has great coaches that really take extra time to help each of the kids to get better each game. He is still waiting to get his first hit, and all of his team mates cheer for him each time he is up to bat. The great thing about Kaleb is he doesn't let it bother him, as he is just having fun being out there. So far they have either won or tied each of their games. GO A's!!!100_2471

Fools Hollow Lake

Since last weekend was General Conference, we decided to make it a 3 day weekend and go up to the mountains to watch conference at the cabin. It was a great weekend and nice to just be able to relax all weekend long.  On Friday we decided to go to Fools Hollow Lake in Show Low. The weather was great in the upper 60's and the kids had a blast throwing rocks into the water. Later that evening my Uncle Dave and Aunt Tammy and my two stud cousins Greg and Collin drove up as well to spend the weekend. To top it all off we enjoyed a great conference.

Dan in Real Life soundtrack

Last night we watched Dan in Real Life which stars Steve Carell, Juliette Binoche, and Dane Cook. It was a pretty decent movie, but I really liked the soundtrack which is by Sondre Lerche who is a Norwegian singer/songwriter. Check it out here.

Sedona...

I thought I would post some photos from our recent trip to Sedona. It was the first time either of us had been there, and it was beautiful. Just some photos of the scenery.

Baseball Time...

100_2401 It is my favorite time of year...baseball time. Spring Training started yesterday and I am itching to get out to some games. I am anxious to check out most of the West this spring as it is going to be one tough division. The Dbacks are really going to have their work cut out for them. Just in time for Spring training the weather has jumped into the low 80's...which is a bit hot for Feb....but makes for great ball weather. This year we have also signed Kaleb up for his first year of Little League. 100_2344I was absolutely amazed at how competitive it is for 7 and 8 year olds. After signing up we had 100_2343to show up for "tryouts", in which each kid had to individually demonstrate their abilities of fielding, catching, and hitting while being watched and rated by all of the coaches. Now the coaches will get together and draft their teams based on the rankings they gave each kid....CRAZY!! There were kids 2 feet tall that were diving 100_2345for fly balls and going crazy out there...I was sort of worried being as Kaleb has hardly even played catch at all....but he didn't seem bothered and is excited to get started. 100_2349Kaleb and I also went over to the Padres spring training facility where he was able to attend a Youth Baseball clinic that was put on by about 15 former Major League players. The players each hosted a short session on certain aspects of the game and worked on some of the skills with the kids. It was a great opportunity for Kaleb. After the clinic  he was able to get autographs from all of the former players on the ball shown above.

Thunderstorms

When I moved away from Arizona one of the things I missed the most was the Thunderstorms. I love the lightning storms and listening to the rolling thunder, even if it's after being woken up in the middle of the night. Last night was a great one!!

Dr. Shaq for The Matrix........What a gamble!!!

I am glad that the Suns are willing to face the fact that they will get nowhere in the post season without a big man to face their wetsern rivals...but Shaq? It is a huge gamble that he will be healthy enough to even contribute in the post season. I am hopefully optomistic that this will play out to the Suns benefit....but if not, what a waste!!
